“Il ballo” – the dance- is a phantasmagoria: women -as written in Ottavio Rinuccini’s text- refuse love and marriage and therefore are classified as “ungrateful”, ending up in hell. Their rebellion continues and Cupid tries to remedy by going to the underworld to ask Pluto for their resurrection as a demonstration of their miserable existence. And so “Il ballo” begins: the ungrateful women come back to life dancing their struggle and, by the end, one of them complains about her life’s nostalgia. The play is a multimedia composition, thanks to Marina Giovannini’s choreography -that she dances as well-, videos, original script by Theodora Delavault and Manuela Menici’s light installation.
