Roberto Zucco

Giorgina Pi stages Roberto Zucco by Bernard Marie Koltès. The story of a criminal who escapes from prison, challenges the police of three different nations and finally, having been arrested, dies by suicide, becomes a symbol of the social dynamics of our present. Valentino Mannias, Andrea Argentieri, Flavia Bakiu, Gaia Insenga, Giampiero Judica, Monica Demuru, Dimitrios Papavasiliou, Aurora Peres, Alessandro Riceci and Alexia Sarantopoulou bring the characters to life.

Bio

Giorgina Pi is an artist born and raised in Rome. She graduated in DAMS and specialized in Paris with a thesis on Shakespearean plays at the Théâtre du Soleil. Author of essays and articles, she is a doctoral candidate in comparative studies at the Universities of L’Aquila and Paris 8. Director, activist, videomaker, feminist, she is part of the Angelo Mai artistic collective – independent space for the arts in Rome. With the group Bluemotion she creates performances and imagines settings, in a research that combines performing arts, visual research and live music. Since 2018 Giorgina Pi is accompanied by 369gradi, a production appreciated in Italy and abroad in the field of new dramaturgies and innovation theater.

Bluemotion is a group born in Rome within the artistic and political experience of Angelo Mai. Performers, directors, musicians and visual artists come together to create from their own suggestions, comparing their views on the present and art. Bluemotion’s works are always collective creations, the result of the exchange and visions of the group’s members. Bluemotion artists are also activists in the field of human rights and performing arts workers’ rights. In March 2014, Bluemotion artists were subjected to very serious charges that attempted to translate their political engagement into criminal acts. After more than a year, they were cleared of all charges and an unfortunate investigation that attempted to restrict their freedom and curtail the Angelo Mai’s intense, decades-long activities came to an end. The Angelo Mai and Bluemotion in 2016 were awarded the UBU Franco Quadri prize.
