Louise Lecavalier

Danses Vagabondes

An iconic figure in Canadian contemporary dance, principal dancer with the La La La Human Steps company, and collaborator with David Bowie, Louise Lecavalier presents her new solo Danses Vagabondes at the 40th edition of the Romaeuropa Festival. It is a profound journey through movement, time, and memory, where the body becomes a living archive of experiences, emotions, and fragments of past dance. Inspired by Carlo Rovelli’s Écrits Vagabonds, Lecavalier weaves already-danced gestures with new impulses, creating an ongoing dialogue between instinct and precision, freedom and discipline. Each movement becomes an exploration, a search that pushes beyond known boundaries toward the unknown. The dance breathes, transforms, and ignites, embodying the deep necessity to dance as a vital, boundless act. In silence, in sound, in the invisible pulse that moves her, Lecavalier traverses the stage like an unstoppable force. With her body, she tells stories that need no words—only to be lived.
