Guillem Albà ’s new show is a journey to the roots of his creative world, where images, poetry, and craftsmanshipintertwine. Through puppetry and comedy, he invites a young audience on a journey centered around the use of hands, that very part of the body that brings us back to what is tangible, everyday, and concrete. These hands have created most of the objects we use daily, giving life to both sublime beauty and the most terrible atrocities. They are also silent witnesses to the stories that have always connected us, telling the tales that bind us together. Solitud is a tribute to this essential part of our body, ensuring that hands never remain alone, forgotten amid keyboards, screens, and the overwhelming flood of information. It’s an experience that invites us to rediscover the importance of what is human, simple, and shared.
He trained in comedy and clowning with Carlo Colombaioni, Eric de Bont, Christophe Marchand, Leo Bassi, and Jango Edwards, the latter also directing his first creation show. In 2006, he founded the company GUILLEM ALBÀ, with which he has premiered 8 original shows: Sketchofrenia, Flirt, Trau, Marabunta, Pluja (with Clara Peya), Calma!, Jaleiu, and recently, Ma Solitud. He has received numerous awards, including: the FiraTà rrega 2014 Audience Award, the La Mostra d’Igualada 2014 Audience Award, the Fira de Titelles de Lleida 2015 Audience Award, the Butaca 2021 Award for Best Artistic Direction, and the Max Award 2022 for Best Direction. He has worked in theater (Titzina Teatre, Àngel Llà cer), radio (La Segona Hora, Islà ndia on RAC1), and television (’El Llenguado’ and ‘Celebrem!’ on TV3). He has directed various theater, dance, and circus shows, as well as music, including the ESPEJOS & ESPEJISMOS show by the LOVE OF LESBIAN band and stage direction for musical groups such as TXARANGO and BALKAN PARADISE ORCHESTRA. His work has been performed in Spain, France, Romania, Portugal, Argentina, Uruguay, Netherlands, Sweden, Peru, the Azores Islands, and China.
