DECODING IMAGES

Images are now one of the main spaces in which transformations in contemporary culture take shape. No longer limited to representing the world, they actively participate in the construction of imaginaries, narratives and forms of shared experience.

In this context, Rachele Cominella, Angela D’Onghia, Cor Langerak, Lorenzo Tomassucci, Simona Vacca and Marta Zorzan, students of RUFA’s Multimedia Design and Creative AI course, present a selection of video essays exploring some of the central tensions surrounding the contemporary image.

Through their works, the authors examine a visual landscape increasingly shaped by algorithms and artificial intelligence systems, in which images become spaces of encounter, and often of confrontation, between the human gaze and automation; spaces for critical reflection where the social, cultural and political dynamics of our time are reflected and, at the same time, shaped, continuously redefining the boundaries between reality, representation, simulation and imagination.

The screenings will be accompanied by an in-depth talk on Saturday 24 October at 8:30 PM.
