The ONCEIM ensemble presents a program dedicated to contemporary music, combining composers from diverse backgrounds and artistic sensibilities. Founded to explore the relationship between composition and improvisation, ONCEIM stands out for its sound research that spans multiple languages and forms of expression, emphasizing collective creation and collaboration. Three works are on the program:
Constellation by Christian Marclay | The musician and artist—winner of the Golden Lion at the 2011 Venice Biennale for his work The Clock—presents a composition commissioned and created with ONCEIM. The result of a long exchange with the musicians through recordings and reworkings, the final score allows for a transformation of sound akin to electronic manipulations, giving life to a dynamic and evolving interpretation.
Occam Océan by Éliane Radigue | An exceptional project born from the collaboration between Éliane Radigue and ONCEIM, the result of two years of work. The project is part of the Occam cycle, started in 2011, and explores the aesthetic of continuous sounds, or “drones,” blending minimalism, electronics, and spectralism. The composition has been performed in an expanded version with prestigious orchestras, offering a deep and meditative sonic experience.
Gruidés by Stephen O’Malley | Commissioned by ONCEIM, Gruidés is Stephen O’Malley’s first composition for orchestra. Immersive and imposing, the work was conceived using a punk and rock approach. It creates a dissonant and intense soundscape that challenges musicians with a test of endurance and an innovative harmonic system.
