Cosimo Damiano + Martina Bertoni

San Damiano Live + Halldorophone Electroacoustic Live

The music by the movie San Damiano (Rome Film Fest 2024), performed live by Pietro Pompei and accompanied by unseen images by Gregorio Sassoli, create a dreamy and primal atmosphere. A sonic journey that immerses the audience in the absurd and ruthless world of characters grappling with the daily abyss of Termini Station.
Martina Bertoni presents an engaging 50-minute performance, delving into the sonic and emotional depths of her latest work, Electroacoustic Works for Halldorophone. Rooted in her explorations at the renowned Elektron Musikstudion (EMS) in Stockholm, this electroacoustic performance features compositions generated on Halldorophone and computer. Using tetraphonic scales and tuned feedback, informed by generative and audio processing systems, Bertoni creates a complex interplay of harmonic frequencies, transforming them into evolving and immersive soundscapes. Blurring the boundaries between control and chaos, Bertoni’s music unfolds as an exploration of time, tuning, and perception. Beginning with subtle, almost ambient tones, the performance grows into explosive and resonant sonic architectures, balancing restraint with overwhelming emotional power. Each moment invites the listeners to navigate the interaction between simplicity and complexity, intimacy and grandeur. Bertoni’s electroacoustic work for Halldorophone merges algorithmic precision with organic unpredictability, making every tone and rhythm come alive with intention and spontaneity. The result is a transformative auditory experience, requiring full attention and offering a profound engagement with the liminal spaces of sound and emotion.

Cosimo Damiano
An electronic producer, composer, and eclectic DJ, Cosimo Damiano has deep roots in the Roman rave scene, from numerous residencies to long-standing collaborations and projects such as Salò, Canzonieri, Deltaplanet, and Neurodreamers with Alessandro Adriani on Pinkman.
Through his music, Damiano seeks to revive lost futures.
His artistic skill behind the console transcends genres, weaving a tapestry of rhythms that activate the listener’s subconscious. Delving into the depths of sound, he explores uncharted sonic territories where gritty basslines, coarse synths, and brain-melting hints of acid lead to a hypnotic auditory journey.

Martina Bertoni
Martina Bertoni is a Berlin-based experimental cellist and composer whose work “dissolves the boundaries between emotion and architecture, creating soundscapes where control and resonance become fluid entities” (A Closer Listen). Balancing classical rigor with avant-garde exploration, her practice ranges from electroacoustic composition to generative systems and drone minimalism, questioning sound’s ability to reshape spatial and temporal perception. At the core of her research is the use of atemporality as a compositional framework.

Her discography includes Music for Empty Flats (Karlrecords, 2021), Hypnagogia (2023), a study of “haunted minimalism” (Boomkat), and Electroacoustic Works for Halldorophone (2025), which deepens her investigation into destabilized tunings and generative systems.

Beyond her artistic practice, Martina’s cello and original works have been featured in numerous film scores, series, and documentaries. She currently teaches Electronic Music Production & Performance and the Creative Audio Practice and Sound Engineering programs at the Catalyst Institute for Creative Arts and Technology in Berlin.
