Notes on the Memory of Notes is a sonic encounter that explores memory and the present moment, where the alto saxophone, cello, and electronics merge in a dialogue that crosses boundaries and cultures. Saxophonist Fabrizio Cassol, deeply engaged in exploring instrumental techniques from musical traditions far from Western harmonies, brings with him a language rich in influences and experimentation. Cellist Adèle Viret, with her deep and sensitive sound, has developed a unique, personal approach to her instrument, weaving her musical experiences with the sounds of distant worlds. Lorenzo Bianchi Hoesch, with his fluid, boundary-pushing electronics, creates soundscapes that move beyond the traditional limits of acoustic instruments, allowing for a constant transformation of sound. In this concert, notes intertwine and dissolve, creating an immersive atmosphere where improvisation and composition overlap, weaving a musical narrative that speaks of memory and the present, of sound and silence.
Lorenzo Bianchi Hoesch is a composer and sound artist. His interests range from pure electronics to compositions for theater and dance, from soundtracks for images to
interactive installations. In his compositions, he is always interested in the idea of establishing new connections between otherwise distant elements. Whether he’s working on projects outside Western aesthetics, such as those with Ballaké Sissoko or Amir Elsaffar, creating immersive sound installations like Square for Ircam – Centre Pompidou or Atolls for the Musée du Quai Branly in Paris, or by collaborating with choreographers and directors such as Adolphe Binder, Michele di Stefano, Richard Siegal or Stijn Celis,
Lorenzo Bianchi Hoesch studies composition and performance in relation to the spatial component of sound and the movement of bodies. Much of his work is devoted to 3D
sound, multichannel and holophonic composition. He has received commissions from various institutions: Ircam – Centre Pompidou, Groupement de Recherche Musicale
(GRM), Biennale di Venezia, Göteborg Opera, Musée du Quai Branly, Saarbrucken Opera, Ballet National de Marseille, RhurTriennale, Fondation Royaumont, FaceFoundation,
Haydn Foundation, and many others… and has performed all over the world.
