Per la sua 40° edizione, il Romaeuropa Festival trasforma il Mattatoio di Testaccio in un laboratorio dedicato ai linguaggi del futuro con ULTRA REF: un percorso dedicato alla creatività emergente, alle visioni ibride e a nuove forme di ascolto e condivisione. Qui anche la musica è energia, contaminazione, esplorazione e divertimento.
Dopo l’opening del 20 settembre con Lyra Pramuk e Isabelle Lewis, arriva dal 23 al 27 settembre ULTRA CLUB: cinque serate curate da Matteo Antonaci, Giulia Di Giovanni e Federica Patti che accendono il Mattatoio con cantautorato, pop, avant-pop, elettronica e ricerca digitale. Un festival nel festival, fatto di concerti, installazioni e progetti che raccontano l’attualità musicale e culturale con uno sguardo al domani.
LA LINE UP DAY BY DAY
23 settembre – Raster Prize
Il kick-off di ULTRA CLUB è dedicato all’elettronica sperimentale e al raster call soundtrack europe 20-25: sul palco Ireen Amnes & Merlin Ettore, Amit Dagim, Maarja Nuut, Léa Paintandre, Camilla Pisani, introdotti da Caterina Tomeo. Una serata che spinge oltre i confini del suono, con produzioni nate dall’improvvisazione e dalla libertà collettiva.
24 settembre – Il nuovo cantautorato italiano è “Femina”
Torna per la seconda giornata di ULTRA CLUB Le Parole delle Canzoni – Treccani: Anna Castiglia (Targa Tenco 2025 come miglior opera prima) in dialogo con la scrittrice Valentina Farinaccio esplora le sue modalità di composizione e scrittura.
A seguire, due live imperdibili: Gaia Banfi, con il suo universo intimo e visionario, e Ginevra, che porta a Roma il suo show in full band, tra pop scuro, scrittura e tutte le emozioni del suo ultimo album “Femina”.
25 settembre – Tra Italia e Spagna
La terza giornata di ULTRA CLUB rinnova il dialogo tra Italia e Spagna: Tarta Relena, duo catalano che unisce canto a cappella, polifonie mediterranee ed elettronica contemporanea, presenta il nuovo album (in un concerto realizzato con il sostegno del Programma di Internazionalizzazione della Musica e delle Arti Performative Spagnole, in collaborazione con l’Instituto Cervantes e l’INAEM). A seguire, a distanza di sette anni dal suo ultimo live, il ritorno di Populous con lo speciale live A/V (presentato insieme a Manifesto Fest) del nuovo album Isla Diferente. Un viaggio sonoro tra ambient e ritmi latini elettronici, arricchito dai visual di Furio Ganz e, in prima assoluta per Romaeuropa Festival, dalle coreografie della danzatrice Francesca Santamaria (anche a Dancing Days).
26 settembre – Tra elettronica e performance digitale
È Re:Humanism Art Prize ad aprire la quarta giornata di ULTRA CLUB presentando le performance di Valerie Tameu e Jessica Tucker, che esplorano i legami tra AI, corpi e identità.
La serata si muove poi tra elettronica e ricerca con Maria Arnal (in dialogo con AI e bioacustica) e i live di Sara Persico (tra noise e improvvisazione) ed Èrotiq (elettronica visionaria e simbolica) presentati in collaborazione con Klang.
27 settembre – L’ultima notte di ULTRA CLUB
L’ultima giornata di ULTRA CLUB è dedicata alle nuove realtà indipendenti italiane. Si parte con lo showcase di Dischi Sotterranei, introdotto dal fondatore Francesco Aneloni, dall’A&R Manager Michele Novak e dal giornalista Patrizio Ruviglioni. Sul palco Gaia Morelli e un’inedita new entry del roster: Satantango. Indie italiano autentico e radicale.
Chiudono la serata due live che intrecciano cantautorato ed elettronica: Altea, cantautrice e polistrumentista dal cuore mediterraneo e dalla vocalità unica presenta il suo ultimo show in full band. Fuera presentano al Festival un progetto speciale e site-specific. Il loro Hybrid Electronic Set – come loro stessi lo definiscono – mescola elettronica, sperimentazione e pop in un live ad alta intensità, capace di dare vita a una club music viscerale, mutante, imperdibile.

ULTRA CLUB at the Mattatoio: 5 days of live music, performances, and musical experimentation
For its 40th edition, the Romaeuropa Festival transforms the Mattatoio in Testaccio into a laboratory for the languages of the future with ULTRA REF: a program dedicated to emerging creativity, hybrid visions, and new forms of listening and sharing. Here, music becomes energy, contamination, exploration, and pure enjoyment.
After the opening night on September 20 with Lyra Pramuk and Isabelle Lewis, ULTRA CLUB takes over from September 23 to 27: five evenings curated by Matteo Antonaci, Giulia Di Giovanni, and Federica Patti that ignite the Mattatoio with singer-songwriter music, pop, avant-pop, electronics, and digital experimentation. A festival within the festival, featuring concerts, installations, and projects that capture today’s musical and cultural landscape with an eye toward the future.

September 23 – Raster Prize
ULTRA CLUB kicks off with experimental electronics and raster.call soundtrack europe 20-25: on stage, Ireen Amnes & Merlin Ettore, Amit Dagim, Maarja Nuut, Léa Paintandre, Camilla Pisani, introduced by Caterina Tomeo. An evening that pushes the boundaries of sound, with works born from improvisation and collective freedom.
September 24 – The New Italian Songwriting is “Femina”
The second day of ULTRA CLUB sees the return of Le Parole delle Canzoni – Treccani: Anna Castiglia (Targa Tenco 2025 for her debut work) in conversation with writer Valentina Farinaccio explores her methods of composition and songwriting.
Following this, two unmissable live sets: Gaia Banfi, with her intimate and visionary world, and Ginevra, bringing her new full-band show to Rome – a blend of dark pop, storytelling, and pure emotion.
September 25 – Between Italy and Spain
Day three of ULTRA CLUB renews the dialogue between Italy and Spain: Tarta Relena, a Catalan duo that blends a cappella singing, Mediterranean polyphony, and contemporary electronics, presents their new album (with the support of the Spanish Music and Performing Arts Internationalization Program, in collaboration with Instituto Cervantes and INAEM).
Next, after a seven-year hiatus, Populous returns with a special A/V live show (presented with Manifesto Fest) of his new album Isla Diferente: a sonic journey through ambient and Latin electronic rhythms, enhanced by visuals from Furio Ganz and choreography by dancer Francesca Santamaria (also featured in Dancing Days).
September 26 – Between Electronics and Digital Performance
Re:Humanism Art Prize opens the fourth day of ULTRA CLUB with performances by Valerie Tameu and Jessica Tucker, exploring the connections between AI, bodies, and identity.
The evening continues with a journey through electronics and research featuring Maria Arnal (dialoguing with AI and bioacoustics) and live sets by Sara Persico (between noise and improvisation) and Èrotiq (visionary, symbolic electronics) presented in collaboration with Klang.
September 27 – The Final Night of ULTRA CLUB
The last day of ULTRA CLUB celebrates Italy’s new independent scene. The night kicks off with a Dischi Sotterranei showcase, introduced by founder Francesco Aneloni, A&R Manager Michele Novak, and journalist Patrizio Ruviglioni. On stage: Gaia Morelli and a brand-new addition to the label’s roster, Satantango. Authentic, radical Italian indie.
Closing the night are two performances merging songwriting and electronics: Altea, a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with a Mediterranean soul and a unique vocal style, presents her latest full-band show. Fuera bring to the Festival a special, site-specific project. Their Hybrid Electronic Set – as they define it – blends electronics, experimentation, and pop in a high-intensity live show, delivering visceral, shape-shifting, unmissable club music.
