BENJAMIN BRITTEN | JAMIE MCDERMOTT | CONOR MITCHELL – Cabaret Songs

BENJAMIN BRITTEN | JAMIE MCDERMOTT | CONOR MITCHELL – Cabaret Songs

NATIONAL PREMIERE
15 October 9pm
Teatro Eliseo

Those two must have had a lot of fun writing songs like that; this is probably what Conor Mitchell thought about Benjamin Britten’s “Cabaret songs” -lyrics by Wystan Auden- before building up a show with an explosive artist such as the Irrepressibles leader Jamie McDermott. His voice and charm, together with his stage presence make this “repêchage” an explosive experience that is also focused on the homosexual culture -Britten and Auden, as well as McDermott and Mitchell are, as a matter of facts, gay-. “Cabaret songs” is a chance to gain knowledge of a mistakenly considered secondary music, which is instead a testimony of an exquisite refinement that suits any kind of song.
