Born from the meeting of two masters in international performative creation is Nudità (Nudity) – a theatrical dialogue between the art of dance, embodied by Virgilio Sieni, and that of the Opera dei Pupi represented by Mimmo Cuticchio.
It is immediately clear that this dialogue may only take place in the body and on the body – the inanimate one of the marionette and that in a perennial movement of the dancer; that of a man and that of his simulacrum. Because Nudità is, as its title suggests, an utterly individual union focused on listening to the natural articulations of the arms, hands, legs and torso to achieve a physical and emotional rapport, through a resumption, of each, gestures and postures.
But who is guiding the show? The traditional Sicilian puppet and the storyteller or the dancer and choreographer? When they grasp each other, they are forced to let themselves be abandoned by these bodies, in being placed in arms or on shoulders, when they barely touch each other, metamorphose occurs. And for the finale, everything is ready to seem transfigured: the body, the voice, the sound; the human being.
