Le Avventure di Pinocchio

Lucia Ronchetti returns to the REf with the presentation of a show for adults and children. Together with the soloists of the Ensemble InterContemporain, the composer – one of the most esteemed in Italy and Europe – reinterprets The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi and gives life to a musical theatre performance in which five solo instruments embody the different characters of the famous story.

Inspired by the Italian street theatre and Stravisnkij’s Historie du Soldat, Ronchetti rewrites his Pinocchio as light and fundamental form in a chamber work. Staged in different spaces (in this case, the Octagon Aula of the Baths of Diocletian), the show allows children to come close to the characters and spontaneously interact with the musicians.

Thus, the transformative journey of Pinocchio, firstly a wooden puppet and then a real child, becomes a musical journey that renders the Italian soundscapes of Collodi’s sci-fi dramaturgy his own while generating kaleidoscopic events full of suspense and danger.
