ARTIFICIEL/ALEXANDER BURTON – Impacts

ARTIFICIEL/ALEXANDER BURTON – Impacts

Installation 2012 at PHI Center in collaboration with DHC/ART partners: Steve Klec (teslacoils); Samuel St-Aubin (electronics)

IIMPACTS by Alexandre Burton takes the form of a series of sculptures, each composed of a plate of glass and a Tesla coil suspended from the ceiling of the exhibition space. Visitors are invited to approach the sculpture to experiment with the different forms of this visual and sound installation. The proximity of the visitor activates a series of pulsating, luminous energetic bundles of variable intensity generated by the reels’ interaction with the rays on the plate of glass. IMPACTS invites the spectator to reflect on the power and danger of electromagnetic energy while accentuating the sublime beauty and rhythmic potential generated by the spectator’s intervention.

Alexandre Burton is a digital artist and composer. He has presented and exhibited both musical and plastic art works. He focuses on new technologies to reveal new forms of expression through digital processes. His creative process uses both hardware and software to go beyond the classical media to enter into a realm in which sound, image and processes can cohabit and respond to each other.
