George, a forty-two-year-old crime writer who cannot overcome the pain of his wife’s demise and Jannie, a theater actress who has just divorced, make each other’s acquaintance thanks to his brother and her best friend. After overcoming doubts, crises and emotional issues, they decide to get married. Thus begins the second chapter of George’s life. Director Massimiliano Civica brings to the stage his version of “Chapter Two”, one of the most autobiographical comedies from Neil Simon’s vast repretoire.





Bio

Massimiliano Civica is graduated in Theatre History at La Sapienza University and in Direction from at the Silvio d’Amico National Academy of Dramatic Art. In 2007, he won the “Lo Straniero” and “Hystrio-Associazione Nazionale Critici Teatrali” awards for his overall theatrical activity and became Artistic Director of Genoa’s Teatro della Tosse, creating the three-year project “Facciamo Insieme Teatro,” which won the ETI Nuove Creatività Award. Winner of 3 Ubu Prizes for best direction: “Il mercante di Venezia” (2008), “Alcesti” (2015) and “Un quaderno per l’inverno” (2017), which is also awarded with the prize for best Italian text (Armando Pirozzi). Since 2013, he has been teaching the high specialization course in acting at the Silvio d’Amico National Academy of Dramatic Art in Rome, of which, since 2015, he has been a member of the Steering Council. In January 2018 he became artistic advisor to the management of the Metastasio Theater in Prato and in November 2021 became its Director. In 2023 he won the Nicolini Prize for “the virtuous use of a theatrical institution, the Teatro Metastasio di Prato.
