Baro d'evel

Qui Som?

After their dazzling and Mazut, the Franco-Catalan company Baro d’evel return to the REF. Dancers, acrobats, musicians, ceramicists and artists from various disciplines converge in a new visionary, collective and shamanic production built on the ideas of community, dialogue, energy and poetry.
The first part of a triptych in which ceramics is both the material and the gesture of an inquiry into our worlds in the making, the show is a journey through our ways of believing and doing together. “Qui som?” bets on the exploratory and transformative power of dreams, an imaginative force that goes beyond each of us to connect us to other presences, a way of embarking on dark journeys, exploring secret lands. A struggle in color, clay, waste and eternity. «Our inner worlds, our innermost territories, are the breeding ground for the social landscapes of tomorrow. So if what is to come is already here, inside our bodies, if it is already taking place inside us, we wish to highlight what makes us happy, what makes us want, what keeps singing and dancing inside us, to give us the courage to look at ourselves without forgetting the worst» say Barbara Métais Chastanier and Camille Decourtye for Baro d’evel.

Bio

«One of the company’s acrobats recently related that his first memory of Baro d’evel was building a paper wall with 80 posters attached to each other. This anecdote says a lot about how our company works. Our research is not compartmentalized, and all artists, as well as collaborators and technicians, move and influence each other with their specificities. Getting involved artistically, in pursuit of total art, is a driving challenge for us, and we need to cross paths and get to know new people, striving for excellence in each discipline. It is hard work every day, mixing movement, acrobatics, voice, music and materials […] We like to think of the show as a ceremony, a re-enchantment, inviting all these disciplines, having these animals, these children, these artists on stage, to create shows that take the viewer into an inner labyrinth, into a waking dream». Camille Decourtye and Blai Mateu Trias.
