LineUp! starts a path dedicated to independent realities active on the italian music scene with the intention of building a space dedicated to newly started musical projects, sometimes unreleased or under construction and experimentation.
The first “case history” is dedicated to Trovarobato, a Bolognese reality, born around the band Mariposa in 2004, and today, with its twenty years of age, home for many musical projects and experiences. Not the least of which is the sub-label Tanca Records born in 2022 under the artistic direction of Iosonouncane, which released the debut albums of Vieri Cervelli Montel and Daniela Pes.
LineUp! and Trovarobato present SO BEAST and AKA5HA: two projects, as yet unreleased by the label, but which have gravitated to Trovarobato’s world for years and will become part of its extensive catalog.
SO BEAST
So Beast are Katarina Poklepovic and Michele Quadri, a duo of producers, beat makers, musicians and composers with Afro-Balkan-European roots but based in the Bolognese countryside. Their stylistic identity is made up of psychedelic, pop, punk, noise-avantgarde, rap, contemporary world music sounds, but never easy to box into a defined category. Experimentation and revolution are the key words behind their sound, which becomes a real existential approach. Already present on the European scenes (at Dr Martens Fest, Beaches Brew and JAzzwerkstatt in Switzerland), a fixed presence for the Milan based Radio Raheem with their monthly program “Abstract Boombox” and collaborators of Marco Rambaldi for the synchronizations of his fashion shows during Milan Fashion Week of 2020/21/22 So Beast released their album “Brilla” in 2023: international scope, songs in Italian, Croatian, English and German and a sound that blends electronic, avant-garde, hyperpop, post-punk and world.
AKA5HA
With his dazzling soundscapes, capable of blending urban sounds, electronics, ritual vibrations and songwriting, AKA5HA (born Matteo Castaldini) is already one of the new promises of Ithe talian music. Born in 1996, he boasts training as a pianist but the construction of his musical universe seems to transcend any genre as demonstrated by his first album “enchantment and despair” published in 2022. In parallel with his writing, AKA5HA produces and writes music for other musicians and founded in 2022 the artistic collective “Matching Criteria vol.1”. He is currently working on his second album.
