Now in its sixth edition, Powered by REF is a project within the Anni Luce section curated by Maura Teofili, which selects three proposals by artists under 30, offering them a pathway of training and development with the aim of expanding opportunities for the new generations of theatre.
The Powered by REF days mark the first public encounter with the works of the selected artists: an opportunity to share fragments of performances, visions, trajectories, and creative processes in progress.
Article 612-ter of the Italian Penal Code concerns the crime of the “unlawful dissemination of sexually explicit images or videos”, more commonly known as “revenge porn.”
612-ter originates from a personal experience of the performer: in 2020, she discovered a chat created by her ex-boyfriend and his friends, containing nude photos of several girls — including her own.
This is the story of a wound that is deeply personal yet universally resonant; a story that belongs to many.
A work that starts from the themes of consent, the body, and their relationship with the digital world — a journey in search of meaning and justice, told not with pity, but with sharp and playful irony.
Irene Mantova was born in Città della Pieve (Perugia) in 1996.
After completing classical high school, she enrolled at the National Academy of Dramatic Art “Silvio d’Amico”, graduating in 2022 under the direction of Antonio Latella.
She has since worked in productions such as Love’s Labour’s Lost by Massimiliano Farau at Teatro Due di Parma, and Late Hour Scratching Poetry, curated by Galatea Ranzi, at La Biennale di Venezia.
In June 2025, she completed a two-year advanced program with the Academy, where she performed under the guidance of Antonio Latella, Giovanni Ortoleva, Leonardo Manzan, as well as international directors such as Nathalie Béasse and Thom Luz.
