Michelangelo Campanale and Compagnia La Luna nel Letto bring to the stage the second episode of the trilogy dedicated to little Jack, inspired by the English fairy tale Jack and the Beanstalk. In this chapter, Jack is no longer a child but a clever and brave boy, ready to face a new adventure. His country is torn by war, and his friends have fled to America. Eager to join them, Jack decides to fly over the ocean to reach them. Inspired by Charles Lindbergh, the first pilot to fly solo across the Atlantic, Jack embarks on a journey between sky and sea. The performance combines craftsmanship and new technologies to create a fantastic world where manual play and craftsmanship remain at the core. Maria Pascale directs a stage machine that, with the help of Michelangelo Campanaleand Michelangelo Volpe, allows the audience to step into small fantastic worlds, where Jack becomes a hero for all ages.
The theater company La Luna nel Letto was founded in 1995 as the cultural association Tra il dire e il fare and has been officially recognized by the MIBACT (Ministry of Culture) since 2015 as a “Production Company – Theater of Innovation, Experimentation, Childhood, and Youth.” Michelangelo Campanale, director, set designer, and light designer, as well as the artistic director of the company, made his debut as a director in 2002 at the Maggio all’Infanzia Festival. Since then, he has led a team of artists, technicians, and administrative staff, guiding the company into the Italian theater scene with productions that have toured some of the most important national theaters, such as Teatro Franco Parenti in Milan, Teatro Piccinni in Bari, Teatro Sociale in Como, and Teatro Bonci in Cesena, as well as international venues like Teatro Nazionale in Beijing, Teatro Excelsior in Bucharest, and festivals such as the Ibero-American Festival in Bogotá, Colombia, and the FIT Festival in Lugano, Switzerland. The company has won the Eolo Awards three times. From its founding, in contrast to a general trend among young people from southern Italy, the founders (Michelangelo Campanale, Katia Scarimbolo, and Elisabetta Pellegrini) decided to operate in their hometown (which at the time did not have a theater) and focus their activities on promoting, producing, and spreading culture as a privileged space for the research and experimentation of play, theater, music, dance, and visual arts. This vision led to the creation of important training, production, and programming projects both in Italy and abroad.
