La petita Malumaluga

Marceline

Marceline is the latest creation by La Petita Malumaluga, featuring a dancer, a soprano, and a live string quartet to tell the extraordinary story of Marceline Orbés. Born in 1873 in the southern Pyrenees, Marceline was a pioneer of modern clowning and a mentor to Charles Chaplin. Her career flourished at the Hippodrome in New York, but with the rise of cinema, her art was forgotten. Her great-granddaughter Eva, captivated by Marceline’s legacy, has decided to revive her memory. The show, blending dance, live music, and technology, tells the life story of this remarkable artist and her connection with her descendant. An emotional and engaging journey, for both adults and children, exploring the world of performing arts and their timeless value.

La petita malumaluga is a company of dancers and musicians specializing in performing arts productions for babies, early childhood, and their families. They are known for their respectful creative projects, provocatively non-infantilized languages, and artistically contemporary proposals. Their productions have been presented at some of the most prestigious theaters, festivals, and fairs on the international scene, across more than 25 countries and 5 continents: Teatre Nacional de Catalunya (Barcelona), Teatro Español (Madrid), Mercat de les Flors (Barcelona), Festival Grec (Barcelona), Shanghai Children’s Art Theatre (Shanghai), Festpillene Bergen International Festival (Norway), National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts – Weiwuying (Taiwan), International Arts Carnival (Hong Kong), Macao Cultural Centre (Macao), Dansa València (Valencia), Lincoln Center (New York), and the biennial Cinars fair (Montreal). The company’s creations have been recommended by the Red de Teatros and nominated as finalists for the Premi Max and Premi Butaca.
