Il cuore dello spettacolo pulsa attorno a una scoperta che sembra cambiare il corso di due differenti esistenze: una lettera scritta in francese da un medico e destinata alla madre di Valentina, una donna proveniente dalla Romania, che non ha ancora imparato la lingua del Paese in cui vive. La lettera va tradotta e Valentina si trova a dover pronunciare una verità difficile, una notizia che potrebbe distruggere il loro mondo. In Valentina, il rapporto tra verità e menzogna è al centro della narrazione: la verità può essere svelata, taciuta, desiderata o soffocata. At the heart of the performance lies a discovery that seems to alter the course of two intertwined lives: a letter written in French by a doctor and addressed to Valentina’s mother, a woman from Romania who has yet to learn the language of the country where she now lives. The letter must be translated, and Valentina is faced with the painful task of speaking a difficult truth—news that could shatter their world.
In Valentina, the relationship between truth and lies stands at the core of the story: truth can be revealed, concealed, desired, or suppressed. Working with the Romanian community of Strasbourg—both professional and non-professional actors—Caroline Guiela Nguyen weaves a modern fable where the themes of translation and cultural mediation intertwine with reflections on the power of words and silence, on the strength of the stories we tell, and the truths we choose to hide.
