Dancer and choreographer Soa Ratsifandrihana was trained at the Conservatoire National Supérior de Musique et de Danse in Paris and has already been featured in works by Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker and James Thierrée. Here she builds her first creation around the groove, this indefinable “almost nothing” that makes music beat like a heart. The empty spaces that separate the letters of the word in the title, point to a graphic demonstration of the suspense and moments of silence that the choreographer identifies within the groove- the basic notion of many musical styles produced in the twentieth century. Here is a solo that seems to want to go back to childhood memories, in order to generate an awakening in dance; a profound, almost spiritual joy, through a choreography that approximates the beat of the performer’s heart.
