Fabrizio Grifasi, Direttore Generale e Artistico della Fondazione Romaeuropa è stato promosso al grado di “Ufficiale dell’Ordine delle Arti e delle Lettere” da Martin Briens, Ambasciatore di Francia in Italia.

Lunedì 11 marzo, presso Palazzo Farnese, l’Ambasciatore di Francia in Italia Martin Briens ha insignito Fabrizio Grifasi del titolo di “Ufficiale dell’Ordine delle Arti e delle Lettere”.
Durante la cerimonia l’Ambasciatore ha ripercorso le ragioni che hanno portato la Ministra della Cultura della Repubblica francese a promuovere Fabrizio Grifasi Officier des Arts et Lettres. Ripercorrendo la carriera del Direttore Generale e Artistico della Fondazione Romaeuropa, Briens ha evidenziato il suo ruolo chiave nella promozione della cultura europea e nell’innovazione artistica.
Un ruolo diventato «fondamentale per garantire la presenza dei migliori artisti nel Romaeuropa Festival», ha detto Briens evocando anche un grande viaggiatore che «percorre l’Europa e il Mondo per scoprire nuovi talenti». Tra gli artisti francesi ospitati dal REF Briens ha citato Boris Charmatz, Rachid Ouramdane, Caroline Guiela Nguyen, Julien Gosselin, Aurélien Bory, Isabelle Huppert, Isabelle Adjani, Juliette Binoche, Sylvie Guillem, Noé Soulier. Ma tanti sono gli artisti e le artiste francesi che hanno attraversato la storia recente di Romaeuropa. Infine, l’Ambasciatore ha concluso il suo discorso con una citazione del grande Aimé Césaire per il quale un uomo di cultura è «un inventore di anime»: un’espressione che «riassume perfettamente l’azione di Fabrizio Grifasi, al vertice di Romaeuropa, «e il contributo che offre anche a tutti noi».
Fabrizio Grifasi ha quindi ringraziato la Ministra della Cultura della Repubblica Francese e l’Ambasciatore per questo riconoscimento: «Questa onorificenza rappresenta l’incoraggiamento a continuare l’impegno a fianco degli artisti perché la cultura sia luogo di innovazione e di incontro tra mondi e generazioni diverse. La storia del Romaeuropa, che ho condiviso sin dall’inizio, mi ha portato ad abbracciare un orizzonte che si è subito allargato all’Europa, ai paesi con le cui istituzioni collaboro da anni – e che ringrazio per l’amicizia e il sostegno – per poi superare i confini dell’Europa verso altri mondi nella convinzione che l’arte sia uno strumento straordinario per conoscere le identità e la ricchezza delle differenze e che per questa via transiti il rispetto e l’accettazione degli altri».
Ha quindi concluso il Direttore Generale e Artistico della Fondazione Romaeuropa: «Lavorare per una creazione artistica esigente, di qualità, che abbia coraggio, che si possa condividere con tutti ed essere partecipata da tanti; lavorarci assieme, perché il “noi” in questo momento è particolarmente prezioso: questo mi sembra il miglior auspicio per il nostro lavoro».

On Monday, March 11, at Palazzo Farnese, the French Ambassador to Italy, Martin Briens, awarded Fabrizio Grifasi the title of ‘Officer of the Order of Arts and Letters.’ During the ceremony, the Ambassador retraced the reasons that led the Minister of Culture of the French Republic to promote him as Officier des Arts et Lettres.
Reviewing the career of the General and Artistic Director of Fondazione Romaeuropa, Briens highlighted his crucial role in promoting European culture and artistic innovation.
Briens said this role has become ‘fundamental to ensure the presence of the best artists at the Romaeuropa Festival,’ evoking a great traveler who ‘travels around Europe and the world to discover new talent.’
Among the French artists hosted by the REF Briens are Boris Charmatz, Rachid Ouramdane, Caroline Guiela Nguyen, Julien Gosselin, Aurélien Bory, Isabelle Huppert, Isabelle Adjani, Juliette Binoche, Sylvie Guillem, Noé Soulier. But many French artists have also travelled through Romaeuropa’s recent history.
Finally, the Ambassador concluded his speech with a quote from the great Aimé Césaire, for whom a man of culture is ‘an inventor of souls’: an expression that ‘perfectly sums up the actions of Fabrizio Grifasi, at the head of Romaeuropa, “and the contribution he also offers to all of us.
Fabrizio Grifasi then thanked the Minister of Culture of the French Republic and the Ambassador for this recognition: ‘This honor encourages us to continue our commitment alongside artists so that culture is a place of innovation and a meeting point between different worlds and generations.
The story of Romaeuropa, which I have shared from the very beginning, led me to embrace a horizon that immediately widened to Europe, to the countries with whose institutions I have been collaborating for years – and whom I thank for their friendship and support – and then went beyond the borders of Europe towards other worlds in the conviction that art is an extraordinary tool for learning about identities and the richness of differences. That respect and acceptance of others transit through this path.
The General and Artistic Director of the Fondazione Romaeuropa concluded: ‘Working for a demanding artistic creation of quality, that has courage, that can be shared with all and be participated in by many; working together, because the ‘we’ at this moment is particularly precious: this seems the best omen for our work.’
