Born in 1995, Giovanni Onorato built his artistic career on a scenic and dramaturgical language capable of combining poetry and irony and that incorporates other performative languages he’d encountered during his training (not least his presence on the show Atto di adorazione by Dante Antonelli). Selected by Biennale College 2022, A.L.D.E is the story of a character that may or may not be fictitious: «Arduino Luca Degli Esposti was a friend of ours. We say “was” because a series of circumstances meant that he is not here with us today. There wasn’t much left of Arduino, he threw himself against a train running between the Fidene and Montelibretti stops, on the regional train line that leads to Fara Sabina, in Lazio. What is left of him are perhaps the things he cared most about: his notebooks. Arduino always claimed to be a poet. “Life is not what you live, but what you remember and how you remember to tell it”», says Onorato.
