FORAT is a non-verbal clown and mask theater performance created by Dudu Arnalot, a Catalan artist with extensive experience in physical theater, contemporary circus, and comedy. The starting point is simple and striking: “if you put a stone in your pants pocket, after a while it’s still there… but if the pocket has a hole, then everything changes.” From this small, everyday image, a surprising scenic universe is born, where the most common objects transform into poetic triggers, comic mishaps, and small wonders.
FORAT is a wordless show, accessible to audiences of all ages and languages, built on the language of the body, rhythm, mask theater, and direct interaction with the spectator.
Moving between surreal gags, delicacy, wonder, and tenderness, Dudu Arnalot invites the audience into a world where the absurd emerges from the everyday: a “hole” becomes a metaphor for loss, surprise, possibility, and imagination.
Dudu Arnalot began clowning naturally at a very young age. To further develop his creative instincts, he trained with renowned clown and mime professionals such as Eric de Bont, John Davidson, Moshe Cohen, Johnny Melville, and David Gol, among others. Since 1995, he has worked as a clown and actor in numerous productions with theatre, clown, and circus companies including Cous Cous Clown, Disciples of Morales, La Fura, Sarruga, Esencia de Noche, and Unicornis.
In 2005, he premiered his first solo show, Dudadas, a clown-inspired physical theatre performance that toured extensively in theatres across Spain and internationally. In 2010, he created Calma, an indoor theatre production that he performed until 2011, when he was invited to join Joy by Cirque du Soleil as the “Purple Clown,” touring throughout Europe for two seasons.
In 2013, he returned to outdoor performance with his street show El Nïu, followed in 2017 by Insomni, which toured throughout Spain, the Balearic Islands, and internationally in countries including France, Russia, Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Portugal, and England.
In 2024, he created fOrat, a solo clown performance with which he continues to tour today.
