Dopo la riscoperta dell’ebrezza del vuoto, della forza della collettività, della fiducia nei corpi e nel contatto umano con la Compagnie XY per l’apertura del REf21, la “drammaturgia” della trentaseiesima edizione del festival ci riporta all’energia della terra e al suo fuoco.
Il secondo appuntamento nella Cavea dell’Auditorium Parco della Musica (18 e 19 settembre) è infatti dedicato a uno dei più grandi interpreti internazionali del Flamenco: Israel Galván. Danzatore e coreografo inclassificabile, già al REf nel 2014 al fianco di Akram Khan nell’indimenticabile Torobaka, Galvàn ha ricodificato il linguaggio del flamenco innestandolo ad aspetti performativi dei rituali della cultura popolare. Ma il fuoco che anima il suo Mellizo Doble, spettacolo che presenta insieme al musicista Niño de Elche, nasce da ciò che brucia sotto il suo calore: un corpo preciso, tagliente, eterno come una macchina.
Perchè ci racconta Galván «Il flamenco è figlio dell’età delle macchine e ha avuto inizio con il motore a vapore, le fabbriche tessili, le ferrovie, quasi un compendio della rivoluzione industriale». Come fare allora a invitare il pubblico ad essere parte di questa macchina, come farlo ballare all’interno di questo affilato meccanismo? Infiammando la scena lasciando che il materiale genetico dei corpi e delle creatività di Galván e Niño de Elche si ricombini e trasformi in una festa che invade il palcoscenico e ingloba il pubblico. Costruendo una “macchina sociale”, di cui ciascun corpo non è altro che un piccolo frammento, una macchina che canta, che fa vibrare la terra e che brucia di tutta quella passione che ci tiene in vita, ancora una volta. After rediscovering with Compagnie XY for the opening of Ref21 the thrill of the void, the strength of collectiveness and the trust in bodies and human contact, the “dramaturgy” of the thirty-sixth edition of Romaeuropa Festival will bring us back to the energy of the Earth and of its fire.
The second appointment at the Cavea of the Auditorium Parco della Musica is in fact dedicated to one of the greatest international interpreters of Flamenco: Israel Galván. Unclassifiable dancer and choreographer, already at Ref in 2014 alongside Akram Khan in the unforgettable Torobaka, Galván has deciphered the language of flamenco by grafting it into the performative elements of popular culture rituals.
But the fire that animates his Mellizo Doble, show presented alongside musician Niño de Elche, stems out of the burning of his energy: a precise, sharp, eternal and machine-like body. Galván tells us that “Flamenco is the child of the ages of the machines, it began with the steam engine, textile factories, railways, it is almost a compendium of the industrial revolution”.
How to invite then an audience to become part of this machine, how to enable a dance within this sharp mechanism? By inflaming the scene, allowing for the genetic material of the body and of the creativity of Galván and Niño de Elche to be recombined and transformed into a celebration that invades the stage and engulfs the audience. By building a “social machine”, of which each body is nothing more than a small fragment, a machine that sings, that makes the earth vibrate and that burns will all the passion that keeps us alive.
