Bio
Marcos Morau studied choreography and theater between Barcelona and New York. In his performances he creates worlds and imagines landscapes where movement and image meet and merge with each other. For over ten years, Marcos has directed La Veronal, a company of which he is choreographer and set, lights and costume designer. He has traveled the world presenting his plays in the most important international festivals, theaters and competitions. In addition to his work with La Veronal, he is invited by various companies and theaters to develop new creations, always halfway between the performing arts and dance, with particular attention to dramaturgy. Among the youngest choreographers to have received the National Dance Award in Spain, he has built his aesthetic in the wake of the legacy of abstract movement and physical theater by blending them together in a surrealist and dark amalgam. A powerful body language based on the annihilation of all organic logic, dissecting the movement and transforming it into a unique identity. His latest pieces for La Veronal, Voronia (2015) or Pasionaria (2018), reflect today’s human beings with their fears and ability to question the world and their destiny.
