DISTANTIA is an audiovisual multimedia project presented in the form of a concert. Constructed from the assembly of satellite images, visualizations processed thanks to machine learning models and virtual spaces generated by the analysis of information retrieved from satellites, the project is an attempt at an allegorical representation of distance-mediated observation. The satellite observes the intricate and fascinating shapes of our planet. It returns diverse representations, thanks to which we can obtain complex information, while always remaining a selective observatory, in which the beauty of nature and its settlements often hides the shadows of reality. The sound, on the other hand, is generated by machine learning algorithms trained by personal datasets, emerging as a chorus that urgently communicates all that the satellite’s selective observation cannot represent.
