Energico, poetico, sospeso tra tradizione e innovazione Sword of Wisdom, in scena mercoledì 17 settembre 2025, della compagnia taiwanese U-Theatre, unisce la potente tradizione delle percussioni alla danza e alle arti marziali ispirandosi ai versi buddhisti che raccontano il cammino del “Guerriero Illuminato” verso la realizzazione. Fondato nel 1988 da Liu Ruo-Yu, U-Theatre è stato influenzato dalla prospettiva estetica e dai metodi di formazione di Jerzy Grotowski. A seguito dell’invito nel 1993 a Huang Chih-Chun a unirsi al gruppo e insegnare l’arte delle percussioni la compagnia ha inizato a fondere nei propri spettacoli musica, danza, Tai Chi, teatro, letteratura e rituali. Una combinazione delle culture orientali e occidentali che mira a superare i confini tra antico e moderno, dando vita a uno stile performativo riconosciuto in tutto il mondo. Le creazioni di U-Theatre si radicano profondamente nella musicalità e nella consapevolezza del corpo, intrecciate con i metodi di pratica del Dao. Non a caso, il nome del gruppo deriva da un carattere cinese che significa “eccellenza”, un tempo utilizzato per indicare gli artisti professionisti nell’antica Cina.
