Gianni Maroccolo / Antonio Aiazzi

Mephisto Ballad (Live)

Mephisto Ballad (Live)

It is undeniable that Gianni Maroccolo (or Marok) and Antonio Aiazzi form a fundamental piece of the history of the music of our country. Together they participated in the foundation of Liftiba with which they journeyed through the post punk season and the Italian New Wave. In 1982, together with journalist Bruno Casini, Liftiba gave birth to Mephistofesta, a metaphysical, dreamlike evening, a noir party in which the band presented E.F.S 44 Ethnological Forgery Series for the first time- perhaps their darkest and most experimental track. Thirty-nine years after Maroccolo and Aiazzi were part of that era, they build a series of new compositions entitled Mephisto Ballad. Electronic minimalism and dark atmospheres mix to trace the different stages of a single artistic journey, projecting it into the present. The live performance of the album includes the presence of director and actor Giancarlo Cauteruccio (a famous collaborator on the Aeneid, together with Liftiba), symbol of the dialogue between rock and the languages of Italian performative arts.
