Among the most acclaimed French directors today, Mohamed El Khatib invites us, together with writer Valérie Mréjen, to visit contemporary art museums with a new perspective. This ‘invitation’ is set at the MAXXI in Rome. Indeed, Gardien Party presents as its protagonists ten art keepers. Figures often ignored, sometimes invisible, veterans of the most disparate visitor questions and at the same time sentinels and guardians of the works of art, the keepers hide in silence their thoughts and feelings. Yet it is they, next to the works of art, who bring life to the space of a museum.
Gardien Party invites viewers to listen to their experiences, their common and singular stories, in a theatrical performance in situ, both familiar and unusual; a new museum experience, merging art and real life.
