Conceived in 2018 but brought to fruition only thanks to an intense correspondence during the period of lockdown in 2020, Il Quadro di Troisi is the fruit of the artistic union between the standard bearer of Italian techno Donato Dozzy and singer-songwriter Eva Geist. The title of this project stems from their common passion for actor and stand-up comedian from San Giorgio a Cremano and an anecdote told by Carlo Verdone: it is the Italian songwriting tradition that forms the heart of the concept of the album. The Eighties: the disco of that decade that brought forth the famous collaboration Alice-Battiato, the Matia Bazar etc. Yes, they merge into a path that simoultaneously draws on Dozzy’s minimalism and the ethereal, almost whispering voice of Geist.
Il Quadro Di Troisi is a tribute to one long season of Italian music, but even more so a way to provide new vitality to a musical style too easily anchored in nostalgia.
