After last year’s debut at Romaeuropa with ‘Hakanaï’, Adrien M/Claire B come back to Romaeuropa Festival with their new show, ‘Le mouvement de l’air’, a dreamlike and poetic landscape shifting between dance and digital technology. Adrien Mondot (computer scientist and juggler) and Claire Bardainne (graphic designer and digital scenographer) have been working together since 2004 in that peculiar, fertile borderland where digital art and live performance intersect. The poetic quality of their shows lies in the presence of the human body in movement, which they place at the center of sophisticated digital environments with which the body interacts in real time: the sets are created with hardware and software technologies, which are often developed by the two artists, as in eMotion. Their creations are abstract, non-figurative and characterized by a minimalistic design. The set appears as a suggestive combination of physical and virtual reality, a world apart that only digital technology could give life to. For ‘Le mouvement de l’air’, Guillaume Bertrand choreographed for three performers (a woman and two men) an acrobatic and formalized piece, thus inventing a body language in order to experiment with time, space and the world. This lyrical, subtle game of the imagination is Adrien M/Claire B’s most distinctive feature. Their artistic research aims at exploring a space between fiction and reality, where all the images – those of the dancers, those filtered by the computer, as well as the synthetic ones – are fused together in one enveloping movement.
